5 Jobs You Wouldn’t Expect That Should Know CPR

When most people think of jobs that would require knowledge of CPR, they most likely think of lifeguard, swim coach, or medical professionals.  There are a variety of professions that benefit from the knowledge of CPR.  Being able to get BLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification online makes it easy and convenience to learn these lifesaving skills.  Below are five jobs you wouldn’t expect that should know CPR:

1. CPR training for dentists can be a valuable resource if one of your patients goes into cardiac arrest during a dental procedure.  Sometimes a patient can have a negative reaction to medication or anesthesia that could cause cardiac episodes.  Fear, anxiety, and pain can also be contributing factors to cardiac arrest.
2. CPR training for teachers is important because working with children can present its fair share of accidents.  Knowing CPR is a great preventative measure to have staff that knows exactly what to do to in a school setting if a student has a severe asthma attack, a severe allergic reaction to a bee sting, or may have a medical condition that is unknown and undiagnosed yet.  High school gym teachers may need CPR when participating in sports on a hot day or having students over exert themselves.
3. All parents should have knowledge of first aid CPR training.  Parents who have survived the toddler years can all relate to small children getting into things that could be a threat to their safety.  They may put chemicals in their mouth, or choke on a piece of food, or take a bad fall as they learn spatial awareness.   CPR training can help give parents peace of mind in having comfort that they can help protect their children no matter the emergency.
4. Babysitter CPR classes are popular for preteen children who want to earn extra income on the side babysitting.  Babysitting can be a fun experience and it can be scary for parents who may be reluctant to leave their baby in the care of an adolescent.  Babysitter CPR classes not only teach you lifesaving skills, but helps parents feel comfortable hiring you for that job.
5. Corporate executives. Corporations usually have many employees and providing CPR and AED classes to your employees can provide a happier workplace knowing that you can rely on your coworkers for help if a medical emergency happens.
