CPR, First Aid & BBP Certification–Be Prepared!

The first week of June each year is National CPR and AED Awareness Week, an important opportunity to focus on how lives can be saved if more people knew CPR and how to use an AED.

CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) certifications can help you be prepared for any medical emergency situation. Basic Life Support (BLS) online certification courses offer a convenient way to get a health certification from the comfort of your home or office. BLS online renewal courses are also available for those that already have a certification that is nearing its expiration date.  Most health certifications and online certifications are good for one year.  This ensures that you are always trained with the most current and up-to-date information and that you train frequently enough to know exactly what to do with confidence in a medical emergency.

CPR 1st Aid online certification courses will teach you the basics on how to save a life. These courses cover CPR for adults, children, and infants. You also learn how to use an AED machine to help regulate or restart a person’s heart during a cardiac episode. If you ever have to provide CPR on someone, the chances are high that you will use both CPR and AED skills to help revive and stabilize the victim until emergency help arrives. First Aid CPR AED online courses also help you learn what to do if you are in an accident when a person may be bleeding. Learning how to prevent the loss of blood or stabilize a person with a deep wound can mean life and death for the victim.  Especially with an average national response time of five to 10 minutes for emergency help to arrive, it is critical that you learn CPR and First Aid to keep your person calm and stable while waiting for help.

BBP certification is essential not just for any health care worker, but for any person who may come into contact with blood or bodily fluids.  These training courses teach you ways of using personal protective equipment or PPE to help prevent the transmission of a blood borne pathogen. There are many types of protective gear or personal protective equipment that you can use as a barrier to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.  This type of protective gear includes latex gloves, gowns, shoe coverings, face masks, face shields, goggles, and respirators. Depending on what your profession is or what you are specifically being exposed to will determine which type of PPE gear is appropriate.  Any pharmacy or medical supply store can also be a resource of information regarding personal protective equipment and how to use it.

Be prepared for any type of medical emergency with certifications in CPR, First Aid, and BBP.
